EPCs (Residential)
What is an EPC?
An EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) is a document legally required on all properties for sale of for rent. They contain a graph showing how efficient the building is and recommendations as to how the energy efficiency can be improved. It also shows what energy costs could consequently be saved. The graph has grades which range from A-G with G being the least efficient and A being the most efficient.
Who carries out the inspection?
The inspection is carried out by a qualified energy assessor. All our assessors are fully qualified, are accredited and accountable to outside regulation. They also have many years of experience and a strong audit record in getting it right first time. We have our own employed energy assessors and do not distribute the work to strangers.
What happens during the inspection?
The assessor will need to take many measurements of the property in order to calculate heat loss areas. He or she will then see what equipment is installed within the property. The main areas that are taken into consideration are the boiler, the heating and hot water system, glazing, lighting, insulation and type of build. For example a flat that has a heated property below and above it will mostly be more efficient than a detached house.
How much do they cost and why should I choose your company?
